Probably from the 1920’s – 1940’s. Dress has 34 covered buttons down the back. The front has a squared curved neckline. Each detail is superb and well sewn (see last picture). The train was sewn in 3larage panels and is 80″ in length from the waist and has a span of 90″.
Slip-on style with no closures. Ditsy black polkadot and black lace trim with a long black satin ribbon in front. Not lined. Material // cotton.
Waist flat 15”. Length skirt from waist 35.5”.
The dress appears to be entirely handmade. Is is made of a fairly thick satin fabric covered in lace appliqué with faux pearl beads and aurora borealis beads, and it is lined with interfacing. There are small buttons on sleeve cuffs and decorative buttons on the back.
It’s a double layer of fabric sewn right in the front. The bust has chantilly lace trim along the front, sides and back and the hem has a 1-1/4″ chantilly lace trim. The nylon knit fabric has plenty of “give.”.
The jacket and dress both have large areas of staining, as shown in the photos, including a large brown area on the very front of the skirt. There are areas of wear to the satin, particularly on the right side of the skirt.
