Vintage 1940s DESIGNER dress by Paula Brooks Original, black and a shimmery taupe that looks silvery in different lights—with black stripes, velvet trimmed, pockets and bustle-size 8 This striped taffeta dress is an irredescent taupe with black stripes- and looks silvery taupe in certain lights as the taffeta is iredescent. This is a PAULA BROOKS ORIGINAL designer dress from the 1940s, with a black velvet collar, three velvet button closure (and a placket side metal zipper), velvet trimmed sleeve with fold up cuff on 3/4 length sleeves, and velvet edged REAL front pockets to slip your hands into and POSE— showing off the UNUSUAL bustle on the backside of the dress! 2” seam with seam binding on hem, pinked seams inside (see photo), Metal placket side zipper high quality rayon velvet The original self fabric skinny belt with fabric buckle is still here with this dress, as are the dress fabric covered shoulder pads. All the makings of a designer dress are seen in this example of a HIGH QUALITY fashion original from the 1940s. There is no damage to the dress and any white spots are reflections on a fold in the dress as I saw a few spots that needed pressing. Paula Brooks was a fashion dress and gown designer in the 1940s-1970s and her label is “Paula Brooks Original” registered with US Patent Office.
