The Vintage Wathne Women’s Riding Jacket Velvet feel, the outer shell is 85% rayon and 15% silk, accents of the collar, lapel, pocket flaps and cuffs. Made in Italy for the renowned brand Wathne. Regular fit, size 10. Signs of wear shown include a small tear on the seam of the rear left shoulder at a straight seam where the arm fabric meets. Additional button included. Lined with silk organza with a double layer in skirt. Bodice is silk velvet encrusted with black jet glass faceted beaded flowers with a brown center crystal, then all over black jet bugle beading.
1930s luscious black velvet dress with peplum jacket. The dress has five diamond shaped silver rhinestone accent buttons down the front. The fabric at the top hangs down to form soft triangles that look like a bow. The skirt is gathered and drapes beautifully. ( there is a 7” hem so this was a longer gown at one time and could become so again if you like). There are no closures. The dress slips over the head. The jacket has a Mandarin collar and 13 decorative knotted cord round buttons down the front. The closure is by snaps with a hook and eye at the bottom. Pretty peplum. The shoulders are full at the top and taper to the wrist with a notch and snap closure. Dress snd jacket are unlined. No labels present. Very good condition. I noted a couple of holes on the jacket near the right shoulder seam as pictured. Breathtaking vintage 1990’s Emanuel Ungaro grey silk and velvet dress!This dress is simply uniquely beautiful. The floral print on the lustrous silk skirt is soft and very feminine.On top: deep black velvet, with a deep V neck.And it has seen some wonderful events– a sumptuous Savannah society wedding; a fancy party at the White House!So magical– and with a very sexy fit. Superb quality.This dress is for a slim person. It is a true size 0. However, from the inside, it appears it had been taken in at one point, and then let back out on at least one side. So, there is still room left for adjustment, and could be let out further.There is some slight discoloration of the interior lining, near the bottom; just a bit of yellowing due to the garment’s age.But most remarkable about this dress: it is just as lovely and sophisticated today. It was worn to a formal event in Washington DC just a few years ago.The absolute embodiment of timeless elegance!Very good condition.Originally $700 from Saks Fifth Avenue in NYC, in the mid-1990’s.
