THICK ORNATE SOUTACHE DETAILING TRAVELS DOWN THE SHOULDERS BOTH IN THE FRONT AND REAR DRIPPING IN WOOD CENTERED SILK FLOSS COVERED BOB DANGLES ON KNOT CORDING THROUGHOUT. THE INNER ARM BANDS ARE LOOSE, COULD BE STITCHED BACK IF DESIRED.

DATING TO THE 1870’S FASHIONED OF A LONG PILE SOFT GREY VELVET WITH THE INTERIOR FULLY LINED IN A MATCHING PLUSH RED VELVET AND IS CUT WITH A BUSTLE REAR WITH LONG SQUARE TAILS FALLING FULL LENGTH IN THE FRONT. SILK COVERED BUTTONS CLOSE THE FRONT, SLEEVES FIT CLOSE TO THE SIDE AND A SLIT BENEATH THE UNDERARM. INNER SILK BELTING HAS NO MARKS AS TO THE MAKER NOR DOES THE SILK HANGING LOOP ON THE INNER TOP. CONDITION: THERE IS SMALL WEAR BEGINNING TO THE BUTTONS BUT UNSEEN WHEN CLOSED. THE SEAM HAS BROKEN OPEN BENEATH THE RIGHT UNDERARM WITH NO LOSS, EASILY STITCHED BACK INTO PLACE. Beautiful matched pair. Has an embossed swirl swag pattern. Almost 2 inches long. One is signed patent applied for and the other is signed patent July 8, 79. Please note that it has been suggested that these may be napkin holders of French origin instead of skirt lifters.
